INDEFINITE RESIDENCE STATUS GENERALLY

Indefinite Residence status can be obtained by a foreign national who wishes to reside permanently in Ghana. A person with indefinite residence status is entitled to remain indefinitely in Ghana; entitled to enter Ghana without a visa; entitled to work in Ghana as a self-employed or as an employee without a work permit. A holder of Indefinite Residence Status is eligible to apply for a defendant permit for his/her non-Ghanaian child or other non-Ghanaian dependant of the person. Note: “a child” means a biological or an adopted child under the age of eighteen years.

Requirements:
a) A completed application form
b) Two (2) current passport size photographs
c) Application letter from sponsor
d) Attestation letter by two (2) Ghanaians who are either Notaries Public, Lawyers with their Practicing Certificate, or Senior Public Officers with copies of their national ID.
e) Photocopy of applicant’s passport (bio-data and current residence permit pages)
f) Evidence of immovable properties (indenture, site plan etc., where applicable)
g) Company’s Documents (Companies Code, audited account (for the past three (3) years), SSNIT returns of Ghanaian employees, G.I.P.C Certificate, Tax Clearance Certificate (personal & company) for the past six (6) years.
h) Evidence of social contributions (eg. donations and charity work etc. where applicable)
i) Current police Report from Ghana
j) Photocopy of applicant’s non-citizen I.D card
k) Medical report from GIS Clinic
NB: “two copies of all documents” must be submitted

Requirements for Indefinite Residence status Foreign Spouses:
a) A completed application form
b) Two (2) current passport size photographs
c) Application letter from applicant
d) Support letter from spouse and a birth certificate
e) Attestation letter by two (2) Ghanaians who are either (Notaries Public, Lawyers, Senior public officers) with copies of their national ID.
f) Photocopy of applicant’s passport (bio-data and current residence permit pages)
g) Evidence of immovable properties (indenture, site plan etc., where applicable)
h) Copy of Marriage/Divorce/Death certificate (where applicable)
i) Photocopy of Ghanaian spouse’s passport (bio-data and profession pages)
j) Photocopy of applicant’s non-citizen I.D card
k) Current police report from Ghana.
1) Evidence of personal tax clearance certificate or evidence of financial support from spouse (eg. bank statement, covering letter from employers etc)
