Transit visas are necessary if you’re passing through Ghana on your way to another destination. It allows you to stay in Ghana for a short period while waiting for your connecting flight. When issued, it is valid for 48hours.

Passengers on indirect transit are required to obtain a transit visa if their luggage(s) were not checked directly to their final destination which means one has to pick up luggage(s) to go through check in and departure formalities. In such a case, the passenger pays 50 US dollars or its cedi equivalent at a rate determined by the Ghana Immigration Service. Passengers on direct airside transit are exempted from obtaining visas.

Requirements:

Submit at the time of entry;

1. Travel itinerary
2. Proof of visa to the country of destination (where applicable)
3. Attach two (2) recent passport size pictures
4. A completed disembarkation card
